Garden Pine Design keep me on a retainer for their Shopify store. This was a custom feature I designed into the theme and built for them as part of that ongoing work.
The brief
I built a custom color selection feature directly into their Shopify theme's product page (PDP) to let customers pick a specific Resene paint color code before adding the item to the cart.
What I built
Since third-party apps couldn't deliver the exact workflow they needed without slowing down the site or cluttering the codebase, a native approach was the best fit。
The result
• Interactive Color Input: Added a custom input field on the PDP with built-in validation, ensuring customers provide the required Resene color code before they can proceed with their purchase.
• Cart & Checkout Integration: Captured the selected color value as line item properties so it seamlessly persists through the cart page and standard Shopify checkout.
• Order Visibility: Ensured the chosen color code is successfully passed through to the final order details, making it clear for their fulfillment team during processing.
